Preparation For Geek

Geek is all about you, the guest. There is minimal preparation required, just to spend some time thinking about your history and opinions on geekdom.
The overall concept is to learn about peoples passions, what they like to geek out about, and maybe try to break down some stereotypes along the way.

The type of questions you will be asked on the show will be about your background with your hobbies and general geekiness throughout your life. What got you into them in the first place? Have your interests changed over the years? Why did you phase in and out?
Maybe you were into comics as a child because of your family or friends but didn’t read much through university. Maybe you were into star wars through your formative years but now know everything about Harry Potter. Perhaps you only came into geek culture later in life, or maybe you’re ‘geeky’ about other subjects. If you can quote all the facts about superheroes, politics, football or TV, whatever your story, I want to hear it!

Towards the end, I will ask about your views on the stereotype and how people react to your interests. What do people not get about your specialist subjects, what do you think they should know that would change their mind.

Tech Time

Recordings are generally done using the lockdown favourite, Zoom. You can use the calendar to book me into a time that suits you, it’s automatically set up to only show times that I’m available.
Please try and use an external plugin microphone, It greatly increases quality. Also, wearing headphones is very important; Echo is the enemy! If you are using a mobile device, the mic/earphones that come with it are usually fine, just be sure to keep it from rubbing on clothes.

As the host, I will try and talk as little as possible. In fact, if possible I will be editing myself out of the final cut. This alarms people when they first hear it, but don’t worry about it, I’ll make it work. The biggest rule is to relax and have fun, this is all about you and your story.

Booking

If you’re here to book a time, you can do so below. If there are any issues, don’t hesitate to ask. If you can’t find a suitable time, let me know, this just shows the main possibilities.
